Money in the Bank predictions, part 1

The 2013 installment of Money in the Bank is just a few hours away, and it’s shaping up to be one of the better MITB PPVs thanks to some good matches and strong booking. For the most part, the show looks very strong from top-to-bottom. There’s only one match I think that absolutely no one has any stake in whatsoever, and considering there are eight matches booked for the cards, that’s a very good sign. Who will win and lose at tonight’s big event? Well, let’s take a look at the matches as I offer up some predictions.

WWE Tag Team Championship: Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins (Champions) vs. The Usos (Jey and Jimmy)

This match will take place on the pre-show, which is very unfortunate, as it could be quite good. Regardless, I think the Usos will definitely be tag champs at some point (as evidenced by their renewed push), but I don’t think 2/3 of the Shield are going down quite yet. Maybe in a few months, but not tonight. The champs retain here.

Chris Jericho vs. Ryback

I’m not really sure what to make of this match, as it was more or less put together because neither guy was booked for anything else at the PPV (surprising Jericho wasn’t considered for the WWE All-Stars MITB match). It will likely be very good, as Jericho can get good matches out of anybody, but I don’t see it doing much for either guy in the long run. I’m thinking Ryback will win, but wouldn’t be surprised if Jericho scored something of an upset.

WWE Divas Championship: AJ Lee (Champion) vs. Kaitlyn

This is a rematch from last month’s Payback PPV, as Kaitlyn looks to regain the title she lost. This is actually one of the better divas feuds in a long time, thanks to both performers actually having personalities, as well as being able to work a match. AJ is very good in her role as an evil, vindictive psycho, and it will make her an effective champion. However, she needs to keep the belt a little bit longer, so she should retain the title in this match.

WWE Intercontinental Championship: Curtis Axel (Champion) vs. The Miz

This is the only match I really have absolutely no interest in. The Miz is one of the most useless performers on the roster, and I am sick of seeing him get a title match every single month. He has done absolutely nothing to deserve this match, other than take a neckbreaker from Axel during an episode of MizTV. That is pretty much the catalyst for the match with little else. Sorry, but that isn’t enough. Axel needs to win here, not only to keep his push going, but because losing to the Miz does nothing for no one. I don’t need to see Miz win the belt only to lose it back the next night like he did last time. Axel retains.

In part 2, we look at the rest of the card.
