From the WWE Rumor Mill: Nature of Charlotte Flair's injury revealed

What's the story?

WWE fans may have something to worry about, with SmackDown Live Women's Champion Charlotte pulled from her match against Natalya on SmackDown, two weeks before WrestleMania 34.

WWE revealed that Charlotte would be missing the non-title match against Natalya and the Mixed Match Challenge Semi-Final bout due to an injury.

F4WOnline reported on the issue and the nature of the injury suffered by the SmackDown Women's Title Holder.

In case you didn't know...

Charlotte Flair is the current SmackDown Women's Champion and is slated to face the Women's Royal Rumble winner, Asuka, at WrestleMania 34.

On the previous week's episode of SmackDown Live, Charlotte suffered a defeat at the hands of Natalya, following a distraction by Carmella. She was slated to face Natalya in a non-title rematch on SmackDown Live, but the bout was removed.

She did not take part in any of the weekend house shows for WWE.

The heart of the matter

F4WOnline revealed that Charlotte Flair underwent minor dental surgery, and as a result had been pulled from both SmackDown Live and the Mixed Match Challenge. She had suffered an infection in her mouth last Wednesday and required the surgery to treat it.

WWE announced that she would be 'unable to compete' due to an 'injury' in the Mixed Match Challenge, and put up a fan poll to have her replaced as Bobby Roode's partner against Finn Balor and Sasha Banks.

The surgery was a minor one, and most probably will not prevent Charlotte from facing Asuka at WrestleMania.

What's next?

Charlotte Flair is slated to defend her SmackDown Women's Championship against Asuka at WrestleMania 34. Asuka remains undefeated, going into the bout.

Author's take

Asuka is one of the strongest booked women in the entire WWE roster at the moment. Charlotte Flair has a lot to prepare for heading into her match at WrestleMania, and this injury giving her time off will ensure that she is fresh heading into the biggest WWE pay-per-view of the year.
