New singles career, Rey Mysterio to be injured? - 4 directions for Xavier Woods following WWE RAW loss
The New Day has been the longest-running faction in WWE for quite a while. The group, which initially featured Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Big E, formed around a decade ago and despite ups and downs, has remained intact.
Unfortunately, while the group is still together, they aren't quite whole. Big E suffered a serious injury in 2022 and he is yet to return to the ring and may never do so. At the same time, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods' relationship is beginning to show some cracks.
This was especially true on RAW last night. After Woods was given the reigns to lead The New Day for the coming weeks, he promptly lost in a tag team match with The Creed Brothers. He then snapped at Rey Mysterio and Kofi Kingston backstage.
Xavier is clearly going through a lot, but the loss on RAW last night had to be especially difficult. Still, all he can do is move forward. So, what comes next for Woods? This article will look at a handful of directions for the former King of the Ring after a tough night.
Below are four directions for Xavier Woods following his WWE RAW loss.
#4. He could lead The New Day into a feud with the Latino World Order
One of Xavier Woods' biggest hang-ups at the moment comes in the form of the Latino World Order. It was Dragon Lee, Joaquin Wilde, and Cruz Del Toro who came out on WWE RAW recently to try to help The New Day fight off The Judgment Day.
Unfortunately, Woods wasn't aware of it and their presence created enough chaos to distract Xavier and ultimately cost him and Kofi the World Tag Team Titles. He was clearly still bitter about it on RAW, lashing out at WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio.
With Xavier having the reigns of The New Day for the coming weeks, he could push them into a feud with the Latino World Order. Kofi and Xavier against Cruz and Joaquin would be great and it could lead to a bout featuring The New Day vs. Dragon Lee and Rey Mysterio.
#3. Xavier Woods could snap and injure Rey Mysterio on WWE RAW
Xavier Woods' bad attitude lately has led to many angry outbursts, but it has mostly just been verbal barbs thrown backstage on WWE RAW. Still, his tantrums could start becoming more physical.
Woods has been seen pushing talent and even pummeling The Creed Brothers mid-match when he lost his temper on WWE RAW last night. If he keeps losing his temper and snapping, the former King of the Ring might start doing very bad things. This could lead to Rey Mysterio becoming his victim.
When Rey and Woods clash on RAW next week, Xavier could snap and end up injuring the Hall of Famer. Mysterio is already in rough shape thanks to Finn trying to injure him, so Woods could finish the job if he gets angry enough.
#2. He could pursue a singles career
Xavier Woods has had a lot of success in WWE. With Big E and Kofi Kingston, Woods has held numerous tag team titles and many consider him to be one of the best tag team wrestlers ever. He even won the King of the Ring Tournament.
Despite those accolades, Woods is yet to hold a singles title in the company. He has tried to win the Intercontinental Championship and the WWE Speed Title, but he has come up short both times. This could lead to a big change.
Woods is clearly upset with not holding a singles belt and it is getting to him. As a result, he may leave The New Day, or at least stop competing as a tag team wrestler to pursue a singles career. This could give Xavier a chance to prove to everybody that he can go as a singles star.
#1. Woods could turn on Kofi Kingston and end The New Day for good
The final option on this list may be the most likely, but it is also the one that many fans dread. There is a very real chance that Xavier Woods will soon turn heel on Kofi Kingston and end The New Day in WWE for good.
With Big E gone, The New Day is just Kofi and Xavier, at least in all practicality. As a result, if the two split, that means the end of the stable. Given the recent tension between the two on WWE RAW, this feels possible.
Woods could lose his temper and attack his long-time friend and "brother" in Kingston. If the beating is bad enough, it could lead to the two having a blood feud and that would kill off any chance of reconciliation in the future. Could The New Day end for good via a Woods heel turn?
