New stable to form, title feud with Becky Lynch, and more - 4 directions for Sonya Deville following WWE RAW comeback
WWE Monday Night RAW featured some major matches and moments for the brand's women's division. For example, Becky Lynch and Liv Morgan had a back-and-forth promo ahead of their upcoming title match.
Additionally, the show had two big-time matches. IYO SKY and Lyra Valkyria clashed in a 20-minute bout as part of the Queen of the Ring Tournament. The duo of Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark won a Fatal 4-Way Tag Team Match.
The pair were then involved in a backstage segment that saw the shocking return of Sonya Deville. The Jersey Devil made her first appearance in close to 10 months after suffering a serious ACL injury last year. She even had to be replaced as one half of the Women's Tag Team Champions.
Sonya's return had fans talking, and many are wondering what the former Women's Tag Team Champion may do moving forward. This article will look at a handful of directions Deville's career could take following her surprise appearance on the red brand.
Below are four directions for Sonya Deville following her WWE RAW comeback:
#4. She could form a new faction in WWE
Sonya Deville's return to WWE saw her in a backstage segment with Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark. She interestingly noted that she wanted to speak to the two of them, although no further details were shared.
Despite information being scarce, many have instantly assumed that the former WWE Women's Tag Team Champion is looking to forge alliances. More specifically, it appears she may be looking to form a stable of some kind.
That could be her direction in the coming weeks. Sonya could recruit Shayna and Zoey, or just one of the two talented stars, along with other underutilized performers. Perhaps The Unholy Union could align with The Jersey Devil, for example.
#3. Sonya Deville could feud with Shayna Baszler
It is certainly possible that Sonya Deville ends up in a group with both talented women, but things may not actually go down that way. Upon asking Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark to talk, only one of the two WWE stars seemed interested.
While Zoey was open to it, The Queen Of Spades immediately interrupted and cut things off. Shayna showed that she doesn't find the former WWE Women's Tag Team Champion to be trustworthy and insisted she and Zoey Stark leave.
This could lead to Shayna and Sonya feuding, perhaps even over Zoey. The two could try to earn Stark's trust and, most importantly, fight to have her join their side. It would be interesting to see two MMA fighters clash in the ring.
#2. Carmella could return and the two could team up
Chelsea Green has had a lot of tag team partners in WWE. As noted, she was one half of the Women's Tag Team Champions with Sonya Deville. When Deville got injured, Piper Niven stepped up and took The Jersey Devil's place. They've been a team ever since.
Sonya wasn't even Chelsea's first partner on WWE television, however. She began teaming up with Carmella ahead of WrestleMania. In fact, the pair were even set to compete in a tag team bout, but The Princess of Staten Island got pregnant and has been away since then.
It is expected that Carmella will be returning to television once she gets over some post-pregnancy health complications. It isn't clear when that will be, but she could, in theory, return at any time. If she does, she and Sonya could form a team. Chelsea's former partners uniting could be interesting, especially if they ever feud with Piper and Green.
#1. The Jersey Devil could challenge Becky Lynch
Becky Lynch is The Man. That is both her nickname and a great way of describing her spot in WWE. She is the Women's World Champion, which means she is arguably on top of the entire division.
That reign could come to an end at the 2024 WWE King and Queen of the Ring Premium Live Event. She will put her title on the line against Liv Morgan. While The Miracle Kid could pick up the win, there's a very real chance that The Man retains her gold.
Supposing Becky does hold onto her coveted title, Sonya Deville could be her next opponent. The two had an underrated match on RAW last year that showed they have good chemistry. Now, on a bigger stage, a clash between the two could be even better if given adequate time.
