Ken Shamrock on taking a vicious chair shot from WWE legend The Rock
The Great One and The World's Most Dangerous Man engaged in a heated rivalry for the Intercontinental Title in the late 1990s. Their feud reached its climax at WrestleMania 14, where they faced off for the championship.
In a memorable 1998 episode of Monday Night RAW, the UFC Hall of Famer suffered a devastating chair shot to the face from The Rock. This iconic moment became a defining highlight of the 60-year-old's career in WWE.
During the same chat with Chris Van Vliet on INSIGHT, Ken Shamrock revealed that he suggested to The Brahma Bull to hit him in the face instead of the head during a match. The former Intercontinental Champion believed that he could have avoided the chair shot if he had seen it coming.
I say, 'If you're gonna swing, you swing for my face and I'll take care of the rest.' I mean, I literally said that, swing for my face and I will protect myself. And he [The Rock] looked at me with this bewildered like, 'Where's the punchline? Where's the joke here?' And I looked and I said, 'No, I'm serious.' And he's like, 'I'm not doing that.' And I said [then] 'I'm not taking it.' I said swing from my face. I'll protect myself. And he goes, 'You sure?' And I was like, 'Yeah.' And I remember, look right at him in the eyes, and I go, 'You better swing it.' And he says, 'Oh, I'll swing it,"' Shamrock said.
It remains to be seen if The World's Most Dangerous Man would ever appear on WWE TV now that he is under a Legends contract with the company.
