2-time United States Champion ending LA Knight's title reign is possible, says ex-WWE writer
LA Knight has held the United States Championship since WWE SummerSlam. A former WWE writer recently suggested a multi-time champion could end The Megastar's title reign.
Since defeating Logan Paul to capture the United States Championship in August, Knight has defended the title against several superstars, including Santos Escobar and Andrade. Last Friday, he put his championship on the line against Berto on SmackDown. Although he defeated the Legado Del Fantasma member, the 42-year-old was surprisingly attacked by a returning Shinsuke Nakamura.
On his Wrestling with Freddie podcast, former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. addressed The King of Strong Style's attack on The Megastar. He expressed his desire to see Nakamura dethrone Knight:
"It would be cool if it would go back and forth a little bit, or if he even could, you know, take it off LA Knight and then you find another story for LA," he said. [37:50 - 37:55]
WWE Hall of Famer thinks Shinsuke Nakamura's return could help LA Knight
On his Hall of Fame podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T addressed LA Knight's current run, claiming The Megastar has "gone dim." However, he pointed out that Shinsuke Nakamura's return could spark Knight's flame again.
The current NXT color commentator claimed Nakamura would be the right person to work with the United States Champion, dubbing him a "silent killer":
"I like that matchup as well. LA Knight needs something to spark his flame again. It seems like he’s gone dim just a little bit. Seems like that star has dimmed just a little bit. So I think Shinsuke Nakamura will definitely be the right person. I love Shinsuke. I love everything about him. He's that silent killer, that assassin, that ninja. So yeah, I like that," Booker T said.
Nakamura last held the United States Championship in 2019. It would be interesting to see if he can recapture the title after five years.
