2-time WWE Champion to cost CM Punk against Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam, says Veteran (Exclusive)
CM Punk will finally get a chance to settle his business with Drew McIntyre inside the squared circle as the duo will collide at WWE SummerSlam. However, Vince Russo believes that Seth Rollins could end up costing the Second City Saint his first singles match in nearly a year.
Punk and McIntyre have been at odds for the last several months. Despite the Best in the World's injury, he has managed to get the better of Drew by costing him the World Heavyweight Championship on multiple occasions. However, the former AEW star revealed on RAW that he is now medically cleared which was followed by Adam Pearce's announcement that two-time WWE Champion Seth Rollins will be the guest referee for CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam.
Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, Vince Russo noted that the segment was executed poorly.
"Now we got Punk calls out Drew and now Drew goes out there bro and does that, ‘I got the bracelet.’ And then Seth Rollins comes out there wearing his wife’s robe. What was that? Did we not say this months ago? Did we not book this match?"
The former WWE employee added that he feels Seth Rollins is going to scr*w Punk at WWE's upcoming premium live event.
"I think Seth is gonna scr*w CM Punk and that’s how…[we get Rollins vs. Punk]. But what are we gonna do with the singalong then? How are we not gonna have the singalong if Seth is a heel?" [48:09 onwards]
CM Punk has not wrestled in a televised singles match since AEW All In 2023. The Best in the World suffered an injury at Royal Rumble, for which Drew McIntyre took credit.
