2-time WWE champion says he will return to the ring soon, 9 years after last match
A top WWE star from years ago has now said that he will return to the ring soon. This comes nine years after he wrestled his last match.
Over the years, there have been many stars who fans have felt had what it takes to reach new heights. While not every star has been able to do so, former Intercontinental Champion Ezekiel Jackson is often talked about by fans as one of the stars who disappeared from the scene. While in WWE, he was booked as a powerful giant who could destroy almost anyone in the ring.
He was also the final ECW Champion before WWE retired the title once and for all. The brand was deactivated and so was the title almost immediately after Jackson defeated Christian to win it.
In recent weeks, Jackson has been posting videos and photos of himself training. He appears even more muscled than he was during his time in the company.
Now, a fan tweeted at the star and asked him to prove whether he could still move in the ring given how ripped he was appearing. Jackson replied to the fan, saying, soon.
"Sooonnn," he wrote.
Check out the exchange below:
This is the first time in nine years that he will wrestle a match, should he return to the ring soon, after all. His last match came on October 18, 2015, for Westside Xtreme Wrestling in Germany.
Ezekiel Jackson never really retired from wrestling but stepped away soon after his release from WWE
Jackson parted ways with WWE back in April 2014. He went on to have a stint in Lucha Underground after that.
Jackson also wrestled in several different promotions, before taking some time away from the ring. Unfortunately, after stepping away in 2015, he never returned.
While there were rumors that Jackson had retired, he was quick to clarify that it was not the case and that he was on hiatus, and planned to return. In the last nine years though, he didn't wrestle another match.
