28-year-old WWE Superstar subtly says she deserves new title

WWE recently introduced a new championship belt in the women’s division and crowned a new champ. Interestingly, despite the reigning champion having barely spent a month with the gold on her shoulder, she already seems to have a contender. Indi Hartwell subtly revealed that she wants to strip the championship from her tag team partner Candice LeRae.

LeRae recently won the WWE Women’s Speed Championship by overcoming IYO SKY in the Speed Tournament's final on October 4, 2024. Interestingly, while the inaugural champion was making her way to this week’s episode of SmackDown, her tag team partner Indi Hartwell secretly recorded a video to make a statement.

Notably, both superstars were seen entering the restroom, with Hartwell coming out before LeRae. Subtly suggesting that she deserves the title for being faster, she sent a message with the footage via a tweet on X.

“#speed.”

Candice LeRae causes major upset; defeats previous WWE Women’s Champion

This week’s episode of SmackDown saw WWE Women’s Champion Nia Jax in a crisis. Notably, The Annihilator was scheduled to face Naomi and Bayley in a tag team match alongside Tiffany Stratton. However, Ms. Money in the Bank couldn’t make it to the Columbia, South Carolina show because she apparently was sick, 'having the sniffles.'

While Queen Nia thought that her match was going to be canceled, General Manager Nick Aldis asked Jax to find someone else to tag from the locker room. Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell happened to walk in the room at the same time and offered their services to The Queen, prompting Aldis to pair both the reigning champions with each other.

The Annihilator had warned the Speed Champion to carry her weight in the match or she would flatten her in under three minutes herself. However, Candice LeRae put up a great fight against both Bayley and Naomi. Moreover, with a little help from Hartwell, she even managed to pin The Role Model to pick up the win.

It would be interesting to see what lies ahead for the Women’s Speed Champion following this big upset to her name.
