29-year-old ex-WWE champion will fail to end Gunther's World Heavyweight Title reign, says analyst
Gunther has overcome several challengers since winning the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE SummerSlam. WWE analyst Sam Roberts recently suggested a 29-year-old RAW star could soon go after The Ring General's title.
Logan Paul last competed in August when he lost the United States Championship to LA Knight at SummerSlam. He remained away from WWE until last night when he returned for the RAW on Netflix kickoff. After RAW General Manager Adam Pearce announced that The Maverick had joined the red brand, the latter disclosed that he intends to win the World Heavyweight Championship.
On his Notsam Wrestling podcast, Roberts revealed that he would love to see Paul challenge Gunther for the title. However, the 41-year-old pointed out that he did not see the former United States Champion dethroning The Ring General:
"I love the idea of Logan Paul vs. Gunther. I don't love the idea for Logan Paul. I don't think Logan Paul's beating Gunther," he said. [From 5:43 - 5:49]
Will WWE Hall of Famer dethrone Gunther?
Gunther almost came to blows with Hall of Famer Goldberg at Bad Blood earlier this year. The former two-time Universal Champion later announced that he would return for a retirement match next year, hinting at The Ring General as his final opponent.
Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine, legendary journalist Bill Apter predicted that Goldberg would end Gunther's World Heavyweight Championship reign.
"People think it's going to be one and done as his retirement match. I don't think so, I think what's going to happen is Gunther is going to say you can't just come in here and get a title match for your retirement match. I think first he's going to have to get through Ludwig Kaiser, and maybe someone else before they put him with Gunther. I can't see him losing his retirement match. I can see him winning the title, retiring the title, and WWE has a tournament where Gunther wins the belt back again," he said. [From 1:20 - 1:59]
It would be interesting to see how long The Ring General could hold on to the World Heavyweight Championship.
