29-year-old star is invaluable to WWE despite losing most of his matches, says Dutch Mantell (Exclusive)
Wins and losses are detrimental to any WWE Superstar's career. While many establish themselves by going on a winning run, Dutch Mantell feels that Carmelo Hayes has been getting over despite losing most of his matches, especially on the main roster.
After making a name for himself on NXT, the 29-year-old was promoted to SmackDown during this year's Draft. Since then, Hayes has been a prominent part of the blue brand and has competed against marquee names such as Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton.
While the former NXT Champion has been on the losing end in most of his matches on the main roster, Dutch Mantell feels that it does not hurt his credibility as he is a special talent.
While speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk, the former WWE manager also compared Carmelo Hayes to Sami Zayn as the two can take losses and still come out looking strong:
"Another guy that’s growing on me is Carmelo Hayes. You notice him out there. They’re beating him like every week but it doesn’t matter because he’s still getting over. Very few guys, you can do that with. Sami Zayn you can do it with, Carmelo Hayes you can do it with. He’s very valuable to the SmackDown roster because you can beat this and he doesn’t lose anything. Might actually gain something by losing, if that’s possible. They put him on every week, he’s getting air time and I like that guy." [From 56:10 onwards]
