29-year-old star reaches major milestone ahead of WWE SmackDown
The upcoming episode of WWE SmackDown is set to cover the aftermath of Money in the Bank in Toronto. Meanwhile, reigning United States Champion Logan Paul reached a major milestone ahead of the show.
Last year, the social media star shocked the world when he defeated WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio to capture the United States Championship. After conquering The Master of 619 in Saudi Arabia, The Maverick retained his title at the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania XL.
The 29-year-old star has crossed 250 days as the US Champion with two title defenses at Royal Rumble in Florida and WrestleMania XL in Philadelphia. Logan Paul had one DQ win over Kevin Owens and another pinfall win over Owens in a Triple Threat Match involving Randy Orton.
With no title defenses scheduled until SummerSlam in Ohio, Paul is on course to break Austin Theory's record (257 days) as the longest-reigning United States Champion in over a decade.
Logan Paul's next title defense could take place at WWE SummerSlam in Ohio
In the past few months, fans have criticized Logan Paul for not defending his US Title frequently compared to other champions in the Stamford-based promotion.
The Maverick has shrugged off those criticisms and remained the United States Champion post WrestleMania XL in Philadelphia. Later, the SmackDown Superstar went after the Undisputed WWE Championship in Saudi Arabia.
However, the YouTuber protected his reign by not putting his title on the line against Cody Rhodes. After failing to beat The American Nightmare, LA Knight called out the star as The Megastar signaled his intentions to go after the US Title.
Last month, the former Million Dollar Champion pinned The Maverick in a Money in the Bank Triple Threat Qualifier. Given how their rivalry has advanced in recent weeks, LA Knight could likely challenge Logan Paul for the United States Championship at SummerSlam in Ohio.
