3-time champion airs frustration with WWE over long championship drought

A major WWE Superstar recently expressed his frustration with Triple H and the creative team's booking decisions, as he has not held a championship in nearly four years. The star in question is Montez Ford.

The 34-year-old star is a one-time SmackDown Tag Team Champion, a one-time RAW Tag Team Champion, and a one-time NXT Tag Team Champion alongside his tag team partner, Angelo Dawkins.

In July 2023, the Street Profits joined forces with Bobby Lashley on the blue brand. Together, they were known as The Pride, and the group feuded with The Final Testament's Karrion Kross, Akam, and Rezar. Their rivalry culminated at WrestleMania XL in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where The All Mighty, Angelo Dawkins, and Montez Ford defeated The Final Testament in a Six-Man Tag Team Match with Bully Ray serving as the Special Guest Referee.

Despite their compelling rivalry, the Street Profits were unable to capture the tag team titles on multiple occasions. Additionally, Bobby Lashley has departed from the Stamford-based promotion following the expiration of his contract and is now a member of AEW.

While speaking to Byron Saxton on SmackDown LowDown on November 8, 2024, Montez Ford revealed the immense frustration and disappointment he and his tag team partner, Angelo Dawkins, have experienced without the WWE Tag Team Championship over the past four years:

"Four years of drought. No WWE Tag Team Championship, not in the conversation with everybody. And for us to walk around happy and still putting smiles on everybody's faces, walking around like everything is okay, when everything is not okay, Byron!" [03:50 - 04:05]

Montez Ford makes a bold promise ahead of next week's WWE SmackDown

Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa of DIY boldly declared themselves the rightful next challengers for the WWE Tag Team Championship. However, the Street Profits countered by revealing that General Manager Nick Aldis had promised them the next opportunity on next week's episode of SmackDown.

Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins vs. The Motor City Machine Guns for the WWE Tag Team Championship has been announced for the blue brand's show. During the same interview, the 34-year-old star confidently declared that the Street Profits would win the titles from Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin.

"Next week, it changes, we stamp ourselves once again. We put ourselves in every single conversation, every single one. That's on everything. That's on momma, that's on the hood, that's on the world. God, we taking home the gold. That's how confident we are right now," Ford said. [04:07 - 04:35]

It remains to be seen if the Street Profits will potentially capture the WWE Tag Team Championship from The Motor City Machine Guns.
