3-time WWE champion confesses he was in love with Stephanie McMahon; asked her out before Triple H
Stephanie McMahon has been married to Triple H since 2003, and the couple is blessed with three daughters. The couple started dating in 2000. However, a three-time WWE champion recently claimed he was the first to ask The Billion Dollar Princess out on a date.
During a recent appearance on The False Finish podcast with Conrad Thompson, Dennis Knight (FKA Mideon) revealed that he asked Stephanie out on a date during his stint with the Stamford-based promotion (1996–2001). However, the three-time WWE champion (two-time Tag Team Champion and one-time European Champion) claimed that Stephanie declined the offer, citing that her dad (Vince McMahon) wouldn't allow her to date wrestlers.
However, the 55-year-old clarified that there couldn't be a better couple than Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Mideon also revealed that he met the former WWE Chairwoman at the recent Hall of Fame ceremony.
"I was the first person to ask Stephanie McMahon out. Oh my God, was I in love with her? Not long after I first got there, I asked her out; go see a movie. She's like, 'Oh, well, my dad won't let me date wrestlers or anything!' You know, a year or two later, with Hunter [Triple H] and all that. Couldn't be a better couple, though. I don't know what their life together's like, but I love them both. [I] saw her at the Hall of Fame and just gave her a giant hug. I love them; they're nice!" Mideon said. [H/T: Inside The Ropes]
Vince McMahon didn't initially approve of Stephanie McMahon's relationship with Triple H!
In his 2004 book, Making the Game: Triple H’s Approach to a Better Body, The Game revealed that Vince McMahon didn't initially approve of his relationship with Stephanie McMahon.
The former World Heavyweight Champion revealed that he and Stephanie initially decided to adhere to Vince's wishes and ''cool it off!'' However, according to The King of Kings, the couple was madly in love and ended up getting back together after a 10-month gap. This eventually forced the former Chairman to give the ''green light!''
"As for Steph and me, we tried to adhere to Vince's wishes and cool it off, but after a while, it just didn’t work. It was too late to stop. We were in love. We ended up getting back together after about ten months, and Vince gave us the green light for good this time," Triple H wrote. [H/T: US Weekly]
The couple got married on October 25, 2003. Stephanie no longer has a role in WWE, while Triple H is the Chief Content Officer and Head of Creative of the Stamford-based promotion.
