3-time WWE champion confirms he will never wrestle again due to major concern

Wrestlers returning to the squared circle after announcing retirement has been a norm in WWE or the pro wrestling industry as a whole. However, fans are unlikely to see Maven make an in-ring return again.

The former three-time WWE Hardcore Champion has been associated with pro wrestling for over two decades. He was a part of the global juggernaut for nearly five years. he was the co-winner of the inaugural season of Tough Enough which marked the start of his wrestling career. After leaving the company in 2005, the 47-year-old wrestled across a few promotions before hanging up his boots in 2007.

He returned to action in 2015. The veteran just wrestled a handful of matches this time, with his final outing in the squared circle coming in March 2024. During a recent interview with Conrad Thompson on the latest episode of The False Finish (via AdFreeShows), Maven noted that he still had the itch to wrestle. However, it simply was not reasonable anymore because he was almost 50, and the business had passed him by.

“Nah. Well, yeah, okay, I have the itch, but I’m also reasonable. I’m almost 50 years old. Guys like Ricochet have proven to me that the athleticism of the business has long passed me by. To get in to be a competitor, I’m just a rational human being, I know that that’s never gonna happen,” he said. [H/T- Fightful]

Maven was allegedly released from WWE three months after signing a new deal

Maven's stint with WWE came to an end in July 2005 after he was released from his contract.

Earlier this year, the 47-year-old revealed that the news had come as a shock for him as he had signed a new deal with the company just three months before that.

"Nah. Nah, I signed a new contract like three months before. Three months before they s**t-canned me, I had literally signed a three-year extension. How the hell could I see it coming? Yeah, no, it was a shock," he said.

Maven won three titles during his short time with the global juggernaut, with all of them being Hardcore Championships. He is also famously known for eliminating The Undertaker from the Men's Royal Rumble Match in 2022. He currently runs a YouTube channel where he discusses pro wrestling.
