3-time WWE champion "never said" Triple H was racist; doesn't "know what his motivations are"
Triple H has been praised for his recent work in WWE by many in the industry. A three-time champion clarified his previous statement to ensure his words weren’t used against the CCO of the company.
MVP worked for WWE for several years over different tenures. He watched the business from up close and helped many superstars reach the top in his later years.
Speaking at the K&S WrestleFest virtual signing, the three-time WWE champion talked about his comments on an X post being twisted around. He set the record straight by saying that he never called Triple H a “racist.”
"It made the rounds that 'MVP said Triple H was racist.' I never said that word. I never said that. You show me the quote or the caption where I said that. Somebody made a comment on my social media about how he books black talent. I just said, 'Ah, you see it.' I never said he is racist. I never said that. That was never anything I said. I want to make that very clear. If you're watching, you got that sound bite here first. I'll go more into it on my podcast," MVP stated.
MVP went on to state that he did not know what Triple H believed in, but as far as he is concerned, he never called him a racist.
"I didn't say that. Now, my opinion on how he books talent of color, that's a different conversation, but I never said the man was racist,” he continued. “As far as Triple H, I don't know that he is. I don't know what his motivations are, but I never said he was racist." (H/T Fightful)
MVP left WWE after his contract expired in the summer of 2024. He teased a potential return of The Hurt Business outside the Stamford-based promotion.
WWE changed plans for The Hurt Business under Triple H's rule
MVP made some major revelations regarding The Hurt Business during his appearance at the K&S WrestleFest virtual signing. He noted that there were plans for the faction to reunite during Triple H’s era.
The three-time champion stated that shirts were printed for their return before plans were changed without any information being provided to him.
"We were told we were going to be reunited. I still have a shirt. The shirts were made. 'Hurt Business' on the front. 'Back in business' on the back. They were made. We were told that it was going to happen. Next thing I see, Bobby is with The Street Profits. 'What happened here?' I get a call from Bruce (Prichard), 'Somebody should have called you, sorry. We decided we're going in a different direction,'" MVP said.
Bobby Lashley also left the company after his contract expired, while Shelton Benjamin was released in September 2023. Cedric Alexander is currently the only active member of The Hurt Business in WWE.
