3-time WWE World Champion reflects on pain-fueled training regimen for his retirement match
A WWE Hall of Famer is set to have his official retirement match next year under the Stamford-based promotion's banner. The former two-time Universal Champion and one-time World Heavyweight Champion recently revealed his rigorous, pain-filled training regimen for his final wrestling bout.
Goldberg's last in-ring match was against Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Title at the Elimination Chamber 2022. The Original Tribal Chief picked up a win over Da Man after choking out his opponent with a Guillotine lock at the premium live event in Saudi Arabia.
At this year's Bad Blood PLE in Atlanta, the reigning World Heavyweight Champion Gunther exchanged heated words with The Myth. Security guards had to intervene to prevent a physical altercation between The Ring General and Bill Goldberg.
Speaking on his CarCast podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer stated he is gearing up for his retirement match, armed with a miraculously healed shoulder. Despite a history of shoulder injuries, Goldberg said he is currently in the best shape he's been in a decade.
"My shoulder is probably the worst part of my anatomy at the moment other than my neck and my knee. It's been widely documented, and I've been the one to admit it, that I blew my shoulder apart. As I worked out last night around midnight, I'm able to do things right now with that torn up shoulder that I haven't been able to do in ten years. This is prior to a number of matches that I've wrestled. My shoulder is in a better position months before I have to perform than it was days before leading up to matches in the past. That is a huge change," he said. [H/T: Fightful]

Goldberg is positive about his WWE retirement match in 2025
As of now, Da Man's opponent for his final match is yet to be decided or officially announced. However, rumors suggest that Gunther could be the one to lock horns with Bill Goldberg in his WWE retirement match.
During the same interaction on the CarCast podcast, the former WWE Universal Champion claimed that this newfound strength has positioned him for a triumphant return to the ring.
"If I think about that as a positive attribute to my training, I'm way ahead of the curve. I can't wait. I couldn't lift my arm the last time I got in the ring. I don't think about my shoulder anymore, and that's unbelievable. Even though I'm behind the eight ball with a lot of things leading up to it, I will be much better prepared than I have been in the past" Goldberg added. [H/T: Fightful]
The WWE Universe has to wait and see who will step up to collide with Goldberg in his final match in the Stamford-based promotion.
