30-year-old WWE star recounts pyro incident during debut
The World Wrestling Entertainment product has changed so much in the last few years, and it is only a matter of time before WWE brings in more names to their main roster from the developmental brand NXT. Several names have already shone in a short time since the callup, including Tiffany Stratton, Carmelo Hayes, Ilja Dragunov, and Bron Breakker.
Noam Dar is seemingly poised to follow the aforementioned breakout stars. The Scottish-Israeli wrestler joined the Stamford-based promotion in 2016, taking part in the Cruiserweight Classic.
Speaking to Inside The Ropes, Dar recounted when WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg informed him ahead of his debut that they were planning to use pyro for his entrance. This was rare at the time for the company, especially for new talents.
"One of the funny things that happened during the day if you remember they gave me pyro, which is the one and only time I’ve had pyro, but at the time WWE was hardly using it. When we were doing rehearsals I was standing on the stage just kind of thinking about what’s happening and Road Dogg was like, 'Okay, now your music hits, and after about 15 seconds stand here brother, and then the pyro is gonna go off everybody’s gonna lose their minds!'" Noam Dar said.
He then revealed that Road Dogg was always known as a "jokester" and based on his knowledge of the WWE legend, assumed that the latter was only pulling his leg. However, that was not the case:
"I thought it was just a rib, and that definitely got me out of my socks a bit. But I was like, Oh, this is real, I am a real WWE wrestler now, I have pyro. So the whole day was just very surreal, then once it was done, like I said, to then have the same practices of okay, just finish the show in Scotland okay, now just go home and everything’s the same. But not really, because that changed everything for me," he added.
The young stalwart is now in pursuit of the NXT Championship, currently in possession of Trick Williams. He was attacked by an unknown assailant recently on NXT.
Noam Dar wants to wrestle at WWE Clash at the Castle: Scotland
After next Saturday's WWE King and Queen of the Ring Premium Live Event, the company will host Clash at the Castle in Glasgow, Scotland on June 15. Noam Dar opened up about his desire to be part of the show in some form or fashion.
He recalled making his debut on Monday Night RAW in Glasgow, calling it a very special moment. However, Dar added that being there in a professional capacity at OVO Hydro arena is a huge deal to him.
