30-year-old WWE star reveals whether he is "ready" for potential main roster call-up

WWE stars are often called up to the main roster after proving their skills and gaining popularity on the NXT brand. This transition marks a significant milestone in their careers, as they step into the spotlight of the company's flagship shows, RAW and SmackDown.

Recently, former NXT and North American Champion Trick Williams disclosed whether he is prepared for a potential promotion to the main roster. During the 2024 Draft, several of his fellow NXT stars, including Carmelo Hayes, Ilja Dragunov, and Bron Breakker, were called up to either Monday Night RAW or Friday Night SmackDown.

In an interview with Chris Van Vliet on INSIGHT, The Anointed One was asked if he has a timeline in mind for transitioning to the main roster. Trick Williams revealed that he was content with his current position as the face of NXT, highlighting the brand's recent success and his role in it.

The former champion believed that the growing prominence of the white-and-gold brand, including its increased travel and TV exposure, was a positive development and that he was proud to be part of it:

"I think about it all the time, but I'm happy where my feet are. I mean, NXT is on fire right now, arguably one of the better times NXT has ever seen. So with that, I'm proud to be here. I'm proud to be the face of NXT. Why are we going to CW? Why we got the biggest TV deal NXT has ever gotten, why we're doing this traveling and stuff now. I'm part of it, and it feels good to say, hey, we party something special here," Williams said. [H/T - CVV]

Trick Williams opens up about his feud with top WWE Superstar

Before moving to Friday Night SmackDown roster, Carmelo Hayes was involved in a heated rivalry with Williams on WWE NXT. The two were a formidable duo on the developmental brand before Melo turned heel and attacked The Anointed One at Vengeance Day PLE.

During the same interaction with Chris Van Vliet on INSIGHT, Trick Williams acknowledged the past tensions between himself and Carmelo Hayes but ultimately expressed happiness for Melo's current success on WWE SmackDown:

"I’m happy for Melo. You know, we had our odds about the whole situation, but I feel like sometimes, man, you got two alpha males, two guys who want to be the greatest, two guys who want to be the face of a brand, like, what you expect to happen? You know, we saw this happen with Easy E and Ice Cube," he said.

Williams is scheduled to face Ethan Page for the NXT Championship tonight, as the white-and-gold brand makes its debut on The CW Network. It remains uncertain when WWE fans will see the 30-year-old star on the main roster.
