30-year-old WWE superstar gets challenged for an extreme match following a vicious ambush; he responds
A 30-year-old WWE Superstar has been causing a lot of issues for a former four-time World Champion on Monday Night RAW. Notably, he has ambushed the former champion multiple times using two unique weapons. The star in question is Pete Dunne who has attacked Sheamus multiple times.
The Bruiserweight had been haunting The Celtic Warrior with a shillelagh for several weeks and attacking him during his matches. By the time Sheamus came up with a shillelagh of his own, Dunne had upgraded to a cricket bat to pummel the former WWE Champion. While he had already used the bat in a match, he used it again last week to ambush Sheamus in front of Adam Pearce.
This week, the Irishman provoked his former ally once again by calling him “Butch” and challenging him to a Donnybrook match in a video released on RAW. Responding to the challenge, Pete Dunne also released a video and made a statement.
“Hey Sheamus, have I not made myself clear? We already had fight night and I already beat ya, but you just don't know when to keep your mouth shut. 'Call him Butch?' Last week's an example of what happens when you call me Butch. Every time I hear that name, you're gonna get hurt, do you understand?”
He also said that while The Celtic Warrior was his former ally, his friendship wasn’t unconditional.
“And the truth is Sheamus, I think you did see me as a brother, a little brother, and I think you did want success from me, just as long as you were more successful taking all that spotlight. So you know what? A good old-fashioned Donnybrook? You're on. I'm gonna take you out, I'm gonna beat you so bad, that you're gonna have no choice but to pass the torch to little brother. And that's not Butch, that's Pete Dunne.”
Pete Dunne has already cost Sheamus a big WWE opportunity
The red-hot feud between Pete Dunne and Sheamus has overwhelmingly been in the latter’s favor so far. The Bruiserweight cost The Celtic Warrior a shot at the Intercontinental Championship via a shillelagh ambush in his Triple Threat match against Ludwig Kaiser and Braun Strowman. Following this, the former WWE Champion declared war on The Bruiserweight.
So far, Dunne has been unable to overcome Sheamus without using weapons. Additionally, he even failed to win against The Celtic Warrior in a fair fight when he was injured. But, if he gets a no-disqualification match, he can compensate for his lack of experience over the WWE veteran.
But, it could be a double-edged sword since the former King of the Ring will also get an additional advantage. It would be interesting to see if the little brother would finally be able to stop Sheamus from calling him Butch.
