30-year-old WWE Superstar sends a message after his big moment was ruined on SmackDown
This week’s episode of WWE SmackDown saw a highly-anticipated match end in a no-contest in a bizarre fashion. Notably, the referee of the match became hostile and refused to officiate the match. Owing to this, one of the wrestlers competing in the match, Carmelo Hayes, has sent a message, claiming his moment was ruined.
Carmelo Hayes squared off against Andrade in their seventh head-to-head clash on SmackDown. Both wrestlers had three wins each so far and the winner of the match would have become the Number-One Contender for the WWE United States Championship.
Adding a twist to the match, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis made LA Knight the special guest referee of the match. But, this proved to be a bad move as the US Champ lost his cool during the match and landed a BFT on both wrestlers. He also abandoned the match and said that he was better than both Melo and Andrade.
An angry Aldis later met The Megastar backstage. The GM said that his actions have now earned him a Triple-Threat title match at Crown Jewel against both Hayes and the WWE Speed Champion Andrade. Responding to a tweet by the promotion making this announcement, Melo said that Knight ruined his Game Seven moment. However, he also predicted himself as the victor of the Crown Jewel title match.
"My Game 7 moment was ruined. My Crown Jewel moment gonna be legendary. #WWECrownJewel."
LA Knight may lose the US Championship at WWE Crown Jewel
LA Knight has successfully defended his United States Championship against both Carmelo Hayes and Andrade so far. While his record against both challengers could be the reason why he thinks he is better than them, a Triple-Threat match could see the end of his first run as the US Champ without even getting pinned.
The WWE Speed Champion and Hayes have already faced each other multiple times and may have already built up their strategies to pin each other. More importantly, Knight’s latest stunt has made him a common enemy of both his challengers. Additionally, since a three-way match has no disqualifications, LA could be in big trouble since Hayes hardly sticks to the rules in his bouts.
The match can also see outside interference in the form of AJ Styles whose return was ruined due to a referee stoppage loss against ‘Him.’ The Phenomenal One isn’t someone who sits quietly and would look to retaliate considering his comeback. It would be interesting to see if LA can retain his championship with so many factors involved in his next title defense.
