31-year-old star wins first major championship following WWE release; breaks silence

Superstars often find success in or outside WWE when they're released. Recently, Cameron Grimes, aka Trevor Lee, won a major championship outside of the United States following his release from the Stamford-based promotion.

Earlier this year, a list of stars was released from the Stamford-based promotion, including Cameron Grimes. The star was heartbroken by his release and vowed to bounce back on the independent circuit in the coming months when the 90-day clause ended.

Today, Trevor Lee won the Integrity Sports Entertainment Heavyweight Championship in a Fatal 4-way match. The 31-year-old star defeated Robbie Eagles, Paris DeSilva, and Maxx Ramirez to win the title. Later, he broke the silence on X (formerly Twitter) and addressed his win.

"It took 10000 miles but I’ve won my first championship post WWE," Lee wrote.

Trevor Lee aka Cameron Grimes has won two titles in WWE

In 2019, Trevor Lee joined the Stamford-based promotion and became Cameron Grimes on the developmental brand under Triple H's creative leadership. In the coming months, Grimes became a regular on the show and faced notable names on the brand.

Later, he entered a feud with LA Knight on the brand for the Million Dollar Championship and slowly turned face in the process. The rising star won the title, but Ted DiBiase Sr. duked the star and ended the storyline. After the brand's reboot, Grimes continued his journey as a singles performer.

In 2022, he won the North American Championship in a Five Way Ladder match. Unfortunately, the reign didn't last long as he dropped the title back to Carmelo Hayes. The 31-year-old star spent months on the brand before he was written off by Schism.

In 2023, he received his main roster call-up under Triple H's regime and joined Friday Night SmackDown during the annual WWE Draft. After a few matches on the show and a short feud with Baron Corbin on the brand, the star went missing from the weekly product.

Earlier in the year, he was released from the promotion after WrestleMania XL. The star's last match was against Bron Breakker on Friday Night SmackDown. It'll be interesting to see what's next for Trevor Lee on the independent circuit.
