34-year-old WWE star confirms status for Bash in Berlin

There is a lot of hype surrounding WWE SummerSlam, which is scheduled to air live from Cleveland Browns Stadium on August 3. But that is not all for this month. On August 31, Berlin's Uber Arena will host WWE Bash in Berlin.

Gunther is booked for SummerSlam against World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest. A few months ago, he emphasized the importance of the upcoming premium live event in Germany and how more German wrestlers should apply to World Wrestling Entertainment. Now, Ludwig Kaiser has opened up about this landmark moment.

Speaking to SPOX, Kaiser assured German fans that he would be wrestling at the event. He added that he was not in danger of sitting on the bench for Bash in Berlin and that it would break his heart if his only role on the show was to manage The Ring General:

"I'm on the right track. Bash in Berlin is not in danger, I can reassure all German fans on that," Ludwig Kaiser said. "I would find it hard to cope with that [managing Gunther alone at the event]. I have earned the status that I can tear the place down on my own. As the only German, I want to show myself to my family and friends, who saw me fight in front of 35 people 10 years ago. That is important to me."

In recent months, the 34-year-old has become his own man on RAW. He emerged victorious over former WWE Champion Sheamus in a highly praised showdown while also sparking a feud with Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn and the latter's challenger, Bron Breakker.

Gunther prefers Ludwig Kaiser over Bron Breakker as the new WWE Intercontinental Champion

From June 2022 to April 2024, Gunther reigned supreme as the Intercontinental Champion. He got to stomp the grounds of both SmackDown and RAW with the second-oldest belt in WWE history. At WrestleMania XL, Sami Zayn ended The Ring General's reign at 666 days.

When asked who is the ideal fit to dethrone Zayn in his eyes on Gorilla Position, Gunther named his ally Ludwig Kaiser. He added that it would also be a favor to him if Kaiser managed to steal one from The Underdog:

"Ludwig Kaiser," Gunther said. "It would be a good favor for himself and for me. Just beat that guy that beat me. When it's done, give him a few more kicks when he's on the ground already so he doesn't forget it."

While Ludwig Kaiser could receive a title opportunity in his home country on August 31, Sami Zayn may not be the champion at Bash in Berlin. The Underdog is set to defend his belt once again against Bron Breakker at SummerSlam this Saturday.
