34-year-old WWE star surprised veteran with unique style; LA Knight a global star
A former WWE manager and longtime wrestling veteran recently praised a 34-year-old star and United States Champion LA Knight. Jim Cornette was very impressed with Ludwig Kaiser and Knight during their match on SmackDown in Berlin more than two weeks ago.
Knight held an open challenge on the August 30, edition of the blue brand in Berlin. It was answered by Kaiser, who is from Germany, so he naturally got cheered by the crowd. It would have never happened elsewhere since he works as a heel alongside Gunther.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Jim Cornette Experience podcast, the former WWE manager discussed the match between Knight and Kaiser. He liked the match and pointed out how the excited crowd made him enjoy the match even more.
"They have a match for the US Title and they cheered, especially at the start mostly at everything that LA Knight did. But they were also, it was the dueling chants, and the Ludwig Kaiser chants. And both these guys can work so the match was good but the crowd was making it better," Cornette said. [2:05 - 2:27]
Ludwig Kaiser is one of the most underrated stars in WWE today, while LA Knight getting cheered a lot in Germany against a German star points to his global star power. Knight holding the United States Championship and making it more relevant should help him get to the next level.
LA Knight is set to defend the United States Championship next week on WWE SmackDown
Since winning the United States Championship from Logan Paul at WWE SummerSlam, LA Knight has defended the title twice already. Knight first defeated Santos Escobar on the August 23, episode of WWE SmackDown. He followed it up with a victory over Ludwig Kaiser a week later.
The Megastar has already scheduled his next title defense on the September 20, episode of SmackDown at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California. He will face Andrade one-on-one for the United States Championship.
Andrade earned the opportunity after beating Carmelo Hayes in a no. 1 contender's match last Friday on SmackDown. The two superstars have been going back and forth trying to one-up each other, but it was El Idolo who came out on top in Seattle.
