36-year-old star believes he will "cross paths" with John Cena; wishes a full circle moment with WWE legend

WWE Superstar John Cena has faced many opponents throughout his two-decades-long career. However, following the latest crossover of the Stamford-based promotion with TNA Wrestling, the 36-year-old Joe Hendry has set his sights on a dream encounter with The Franchise Player.

On the June 18, episode of NXT, Hendry made a special appearance to participate in the 25-man Battle Royal contest. The multi-man match was held to determine the number one contender for Trick Williams' NXT Championship. Even though The Prestigious One received a massive pop from the crowd, he was quickly eliminated. After the match, the TNA star stomped backstage angrily and threw a fit before the WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels.

While speaking on the Gabby AF podcast, Joe Hendry recollected missing a Friday Night SmackDown show when he was 15 years old. But his friend visited the show and arranged a phone call with The Leader of Cenation for him.

"And my friend got the VIP (tickets) to go and it was a SmackDown. He went to the VIP and I got a call from his mobile. I’m 15 years old, and I pick up the phone and I hear, ‘Yo, it’s your boy John Cena.’ I was like, 'What?' John Cena talked to me on the phone for ten minutes. We talked about his career and I told him, ‘I think you’re gonna win the title at (next) WrestleMania’ and he did (....) I think there is something full circle that could happen with John Cena, I don’t know, I think we’re gonna cross paths," he said. [From 07:45 to 08:30]

John Cena's last appearance was on WWE RAW after WrestleMania XL

At WrestleMania XL, the 16-time World Champion came to even the odds for Cody Rhodes against Roman Reigns in a "Bloodline Rules" match. Cena took out Reigns and sent Solo Sikoa crashing through the Spanish announcer's table.

Later, The Rock and the 47-year-old WWE Superstar had a massive face-off before The Final Boss laid out Cena. In the end, it was The American Nightmare who went on to win the Undisputed WWE Championship.

On RAW after Mania', R-Truth and The Miz faced The Judgment Day in a Six-Man Tag Team Match. John Cena made a surprise return and helped The Awesome Truth secure a win over Finn Balor, Dominik Mysterio, and JD McDonagh. It remains to be seen if the wrestling world will ever witness a singles match or a confrontation between Joe Hendry and The Leader of Cenation.
