36-year-old star confirms rumor that WWE canceled his World Title match against Seth Rollins before WrestleMania 40
Seth Rollins was injured between mid-January and March 2024, having no televised World Heavyweight Title defenses between that time. A 36-year-old star who was heavily rumored to face him at Elimination Chamber recently confirmed the same.
There were rumors that 'Big' Bronson Reed was slated to face Seth Rollins, presumably as his final World Title opponent before WrestleMania 40. The match would've happened at Elimination Chamber in Perth, Australia, giving Reed a dream match in his home country.
In an interview with Nine.com.au, the 36-year-old RAW Superstar confirmed that he was originally scheduled to face Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Title at Elimination Chamber. He said it was tough.
""It was tough ... I've gone on record to say that match was set," he recounted.
Reed confirmed that he was told that the match was happening until WWE had to cancel it due to Rollins' injury.
"The people that make the matches had told me I was facing Seth Rollins in Australia, which is dream stuff. Unfortunately, Seth got injured and I never forgot that."
36-year-old Reed was reminded of his biggest wrestling influence, coach Hartley Jackson, who instilled in him the philosophy that wrestling owes him nothing - whether things are going good or bad. So it seems like the Australian star has bounced back from it as he gets valuable TV slots and is involved in big moments on a nearly weekly basis.
Bronson Reed also addressed his future feud with Seth Rollins
When Rollins comes back, he will almost certainly be picking things up again with Bronson Reed. It was Reed who took him out with a series of Tsunamis, beginning what has now been a run of destruction with superstars like Braun Strowman also becoming victims.
During the same interview with Nine.co.au, Reed said that he expects to tear things up with The Visionary once he returns.
"Depending on what happens with Seth Rollins and his injuries, there's someone there that I think we're gonna tear things up if we're back in the ring together."
It's going to be an interesting feud. Rollins has been dealing with a few injury spells this year. Apart from the right knee injury he suffered mid-January, he also wrestled both nights of WrestleMania 40 with a torn meniscus before returning to challenge Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship.
The angle with Bronson Reed was meant to write him out as he has unsurprisingly been dealing with chronic knee issues as per the latest reports.
