36-year-old star teases upcoming title match; references WWE in promo
A massively popular star just teased that he would challenge for a title in an upcoming show. He also referred to WWE.
Elias, 36, was once a popular WWE Superstar who wrestled for the promotion from 2014 to 2023. He was even named Breakout Star of the Year in 2018. However, he wasn't able to accomplish much besides winning the 24/7 Championship. Despite his popularity, he was released on September 21, 2023.
Following his release, Elias worked in the Indies and made his return to IWC earlier this year. In his return match, he managed to win the 16-Bit challenge and secured the reset button which will allow him to challenge for any title.
Elias, who now goes by the ring name Elijah, released a video that was uploaded to IWC's X/Twitter account where he announced that he was going to activate his reset button at the upcoming 7th Annual Pittsburgh Classic on December 7. He teased challenging for the tag title.
The 36-year-old also teased going after Sam Holloway for the Super Indy Championship. He added that he knew Sam has been ID'd by WWE but he has him in sight after his loss at Super Indy 23 earlier this year.
"Hello I am Elijah and on December 7th at the Pittsburgh Classic I will be activating my reset button, which means any championship at any time could be mine. It just depends which one do I want. [...] Maybe on that night I show up with my very own mystery tag team partner. Maybe someone as close as my very own brother and take the tag team championships away from you. But then I also have not forgotten about Sam Holloway. See I know he has been ID'd but I ID'd him long ago. [...] I can get that Super Indy Championship off you and back around my waist."

Elias admits he was close to retiring due to frustrations with WWE
Despite being one of the most over superstars on the entire roster, Elias (aka Elijah) was always used as a punching bag to elevate other wrestlers. It seemed like he was always present to be the one who gets taken out by the bigger stars and this took a toll on the former WWE star.
During a recent interview with Metro.co, the former 24/7 Champion admitted that he was so frustrated with his booking in the Stamford-based promotion that he considered walking away from wrestling entirely.
"The fact that I just kinda was relegated to like short backstage – it was so frustrating that I was like, 'You know what? Maybe I’m done with wrestling. Maybe I’m just you know, I’m just over it.' It beats that fun thing you have as a kid when you want to wrestle and you want to be in WWE. And someone like me, I didn’t like just to sit by and just collect the paycheck. I wanted to be in the mix," he said.
It will be interesting to see which championship Elijah fka Elias will go after on December 7.
