36-year-old WWE star sends three-word message to Finn Bálor following dastardly move on WWE RAW
Finn Bálor may have highlighted WWE's Judgment Day not having any more leaders since former World Champions Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley's departure, but perhaps Bálor himself may have arguably become the group's de facto leader.
He is up for a high-profile showdown at Bad Blood on October 5, as Priest looks to gain a measure of revenge on The Prince for sabotaging his World Heavyweight Championship reign at SummerSlam. But before Bálor could get there, he destroyed WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio this past Monday.
Referee Shawn Bennett called the RAW singles bout. In the closing moments, Finn Bálor locked The Master of the 619 in a half Boston Crab between the ropes. Bennett took issue with this action made by the inaugural WWE Universal Champion, disqualifying the latter. He took to Instagram to further highlight the brutal move:
"Out. Of. Control," Shawn Bennett wrote.
Meanwhile, Jey Uso has joined Priest and Ripley to fend off The Judgment Day. Where this partnership leads to bears watching. As for Mami, she has a date with Women's World Champion Liv Morgan at Bad Blood.
Damian Priest was negatively affected by WWE, veteran Al Snow weighs in
Aside from the pain of losing the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam, Damian Priest reflected on missing out on a notable role in MCU's feature Black Panther: Wakanda Forever while speaking to Chris Van Vliet.
Al Snow touched upon this particular point brought up by Priest during Vince Russo's The Brand podcast. According to the veteran wrestler, the Stamford-based promotion has done this before, and it comes down to business at the end of the day. He speculated that the company may have wanted to push someone else in that role, which is why The Archer of Infamy lost the opportunity:
"Oh, that does happen. You know the company has designs on certain talent, and if a talent that is not part of that design is offered a major opportunity like that, that would increase the exposure of, say, another talent they're really wanting to try to push. Yeah, I mean that's happened for years, you know, where they go, 'We can't give you Damian Priest. We can give you this guy; what about that?' And then, of course, you know they don't have an interest in that guy, and then the opportunity just goes away altogether for WWE," he said.
Before Damian Priest can think about going after the World Heavyweight Title again, he needs to resolve his issues with Finn Bálor. In WWE, the only way to do that is to step into the ring for a fight.
