38-year-old wants to reunite with Randy Orton if WWE rehires him (Exclusive)

Randy Orton has held tag titles four times in WWE, including the RAW Tag Team Championship twice with Matt Riddle. In an exclusive interview, Riddle recently gave his thoughts on how he could be booked if he ever returns to WWE.

In 2023, The Original Bro was released by WWE after five years with the company. One of his most successful WWE stints came between 2021 and 2022 when he formed the RK-Bro tag team with Randy Orton on RAW.

Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter and host Dr. Chris Featherstone spoke to Riddle about possible future storylines in WWE. The 38-year-old made it clear he would want to link up with Randy Orton again if he re-signs with the company:

"If I went back tomorrow I'd wanna reconnect RK-Bro up, give Randy's back a little break, you know?" Riddle said. "Oh, dude, his nutritionist, what a guy! What a guy! Randy's nutritionist, this goes off to you!" [5:37 – 5:53]

Before portraying a comedy character on WWE television, Riddle fought as a mixed martial artist for many years in the UFC.

The former United States Champion thinks he connected so well with fans because they know he can entertain and also legitimately beat up opponents:

"With that, I think with my character, and this is a pro wrestling, WWE thing, I'm not that serious, I'm very comical, but at the same time you look me up I can knock most people out or choke them out whenever I want," Riddle said. "I fought in the UFC for quite a while and I got fired winning fights. But I think for most people, casual fans, they see that goofiness, most people aren't goofy because they wanna be taken serious, I am serious in real life." [4:35 – 5:00]

Matt Riddle on his partnerships with Pete Dunne and Randy Orton

Prior to his main roster call-up in 2020, Matt Riddle won the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and the NXT tag titles with Pete Dunne.

Riddle believes his tag team partnerships with Dunne and Randy Orton worked so well because his on-screen persona was different from everyone else:

"So I think with that being said I connected well because Randy isn't making jokes, Pete Dunne doesn't make jokes, so when you put us together, even Drew McIntyre, well, now he's a bad guy, but even when he was a face he doesn't really make jokes. You know, if anything, he's more serious, no-nonsense. So when you add me into the mix, it gives that nice dynamic. Also, all these guys behind the curtains and in the locker room respect me because they know what I'm actually capable of." [5:01 – 5:31]

Orton and Riddle have not teamed up since losing a tag title unification match against The Usos on the May 20, 2022, episode of SmackDown.
