38-year-old WWE star allegedly wants to wrestle Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in a Mixed Tag Team match
WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque was a dream opponent to many athletes in the wrestling business. But he officially announced that he needs to step out of the ring following a health scare.
Despite this, Johnny Gargano's wife Candice LeRae apparently wants to face Triple H and Stephanie McMahon alongside her husband. Throughout his in-ring career, The Game has worked with his wife Stephanie on several occasions, even as a tag team.
When #DIY did an interview for TV Insider, Ciampa joked that the 38-year-old former NXT Women's Tag Team Champion wants to face him in a retirement match at WrestleMania. Gargano disputed these claims, adding that her dream scenario is for them to work a mixed tag team match against the McMahon family:
"Candice’s dream match, retirement match, Candice LeRae vs. Tommaso Ciampa at WrestleMania. Maybe WrestleMania 42 or 43," Ciampa claimed. "It’s not. Her dream match is actually me and her versus Triple H and Stephanie McMahon," Gargano said in response.
At WrestleMania XL, Stephanie McMahon made a surprise return to WWE. She voiced her immense pleasure that it is now the "Paul Levesque Era" in the pro wrestling world.
Triple H comments on Stephanie McMahon's current role in WWE
In January 2023, Stephanie McMahon resigned from her duties after her father Vince McMahon rejoined WWE.
After her WrestleMania XL appearance, though, The Billion Dollar Princess was again seen at SummerSlam earlier this month. During the post-show press conference, her husband Triple H was asked about her current role. He clarified that she is not officially back, but did not rule out a possible involvement down the line:
"She does not have an official role right now, but I can tell you this—she loves this. Absolutely loves it. Sometimes harder to love it, and sometimes easy to love it. It's easy to love it again for her. [...] It's been her whole life since she was little. No official role right now. Right now her official role is she's enjoying our kids getting too old too fast. But we'll see, we'll see what the future holds. I would expect to see her around because she loves it and she's enjoying being around it again."
While Gargano and LeRae's dream of facing Triple H and Stephanie McMahon is unlikely owing to The Game's health, Stephanie has sporadically stepped back in the ring in the last decade. Her last match to date was at WrestleMania 34. She tagged alongside her husband against Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey in the latter's WWE debut.
