38-year-old WWE star, who hasn't wrestled in over a year, on returning to TNA Wrestling for a potential match
Several notable names from TNA Wrestling have made their way to WWE in the past few years. The partnership between the two companies has now opened the door both ways. Recently, Nick Aldis addressed the possibility of returning to the Nashville-based promotion for a match.
Nick Aldis is an industry veteran and spent years in TNA Wrestling. The 38-year-old star accomplished a lot in pro wrestling before joining the Stamford-based promotion. He is the general manager of SmackDown. However, he hasn't competed inside the squared circle for WWE yet.
In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, The National Treasure was asked about the possibility of a match in TNA Wrestling as part of WWE's working relationship with the organization. Aldis said it might be fun to do if he got an opportunity.
"I guess I hadn't really thought about that, but it might be fun as the GM, depending on the context. Obviously, the Machine Guns just debuted. That was cool. It was cool for me to be involved in that, because of our history and everything. But again, I think one of the really exciting things about the Paul Levesque era, for lack of a better term, I tried to coin the Renaissance era, but that doesn't seem to have taken off," Aldis said. Aldis' last match came at ACW Bluegrass Con on October 7, 2023. He competed in a five-way bout at the event.
Nick Aldis signed TNA Wrestling legends to WWE SmackDown
Last year, Nick Aldis made his way to the Stamford-based promotion under Triple H's leadership. However, he didn't join the company as an in-ring performer but as Friday Night SmackDown's general manager.
The 38-year-old star has taken a finisher in the ring before and shoved Drew McIntyre on Friday Night SmackDown. However, many fans want him to wrestle a full-fledged bout under World Wrestling Entertainment's umbrella.
Regardless of his current role, TNA Wrestling has been instrumental in The National Treasure's growth as a performer. He often speaks highly of the promotion.
Last month, Aldis signed TNA legends Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin (aka the Motor City Machine Guns) to Friday Night SmackDown. The two quickly rose through the ranks and became WWE Tag Team Champions in their third match.
