38-year-old year star probably won't finish his career in WWE; addresses in-ring retirement

WWE has often been the resting place for many industry veterans and legends when they're in the twilight of their in-ring careers. Recently, former World Champion and United States Champion Jinder Mahal, aka Raj Dhesi, commented on his potential in-ring retirement.

Earlier this year, Jinder Mahal was released from the Stamford-based promotion after the company hosted its biggest WrestleMania. Along with The Modern Day Maharaja, Indus Sher was also released as the trio moved to WWE's main roster as a unit in 2023.

In an exclusive interview with PWInsider, the 38-year-old star covered various topics following his release from WWE. In one segment, Dhesi addressed his potential retirement from wrestling in the coming years. The former WWE Champion stated he would probably finish his career on the independent circuit.

"I started from the independents and I'll probably finish my career, whenever that is, not anytime soon, on the independents," he said. [H/T: Wrestling Inc]

Jinder Mahal recently called out WWE

Last year, Jinder Mahal made a shocking return to the developmental brand and took over Indus Sher. The Modern Day Maharaja guided the duo and together they became a formidable trio on WWE NXT.

Later, they were drafted to Monday Night RAW under Triple H's leadership and spent most of the year on the bench. Earlier this year, Mahal was in a feud with Seth Rollins and had a segment with The Rock. However, the segments and feuds didn't transition into a meaningful role in the promotion as he was released from the company in the coming months.

Recently, Raj Dhesi called out the company for a lack of South Asian representation in the promotion. He tweeted a few valid points and also requested to re-hire a few names who deserve a global platform.

While the company hasn't responded to the call out, it's evident that the management has made a few moves in their product to provide a fair representation across all three brands.

Raj Dhesi is set to reunite with Heath Slater on the independent circuit. It'll be interesting to see what The Modern Day Maharaja does next and if he'll ever appear in the Stamford-based promotion before retiring from in-ring competition.
