39-year-old who last competed for WWE four years ago shares backstage photo at Money in the Bank
The 2024 Money in the Bank event featured some car-crash moments that helped elevate the WWE athletes who performed in the titular contests, even in defeat. One of the names who fall into this category is Chelsea Green. And figuratively speaking, her husband, Matt Cardona, got a front-row seat.
Heading into the event, Green was one of the favorites to walk out of Toronto with the briefcase. It seemed that was the direction WWE intended to go with in the closing moments of the bout, too.
But that was until Tiffany Stratton pushed the ladder she was standing on, leading to her crashing through two tables outside the ring. Cardona was backstage at the event and has now shared a snap on social media with Chelsea Green.
"I cashed in my #MITB briefcase for the hottest WWE Diva…@chelseaagreen!" Matt Cardona wrote on Instagram.
Despite the loss, it appears fans are not infuriated by the decision to have Tiffany Stratton—who is just as fitting to have won the briefcase—walk away with the win at Money in the Bank. However, the same cannot be said about the men's ladder match.
CM Punk costs Drew McIntyre his Money in the Bank cash-in attempt
Drew McIntyre had the advantage going into the titular match Saturday night at Money in the Bank. He was the only man with all the experience, being a part of this match type and having held world championship gold before.
Despite this, it was hard to rule out all of the competitors in the match, who had a legitimate claim to make as the next breakout star. However, ultimately, it was McIntyre that managed to prevail.
As he had confirmed before the event, The Scottish Warrior attempted to use his newly won contract during the World Heavyweight Championship match between Seth Rollins and Damian Priest.
He could not have foreseen CM Punk's shocking interference, having put the latter away a few weeks ago in Chicago.
Punk's physical altercation with the Scot allowed Priest to take advantage of the situation and pin the 2024 Money in the Bank winner, once again making sure that another one of Drew McIntyre's nights ends on a sour note.
Post-show, McIntyre was seen going berserk at what had happened to him for the umpteenth time on a major stage. He even shoved RAW General Manager Adam Pearce, as you can see in the Instagram reel above.
This week's fallout on WWE RAW should be interesting, especially considering CM Punk is still not cleared to compete at SummerSlam.
