4-time champion moved to alumni section of WWE.com

WWE has officially parted ways with another top superstar. After weeks of rumor and speculation, the company has confirmed the departure of a veteran wrestler. This comes amid rumblings of a potential jump to AEW.

Ricochet is no longer with World Wrestling Entertainment. The four-time WWE champion reportedly gave his notice in early June, and his deal is now expiring. There has been strong talk of the 21-year veteran going to All Elite Wrestling.

Despite officials discussing plans for a potential extended exit, Ricochet was written off television on June 10 after a brutal assault by Bron Breakker. Following the RAW ambulance angle, the storyline update noted that the inaugural WWE Speed Champion would be out of action for an "undisclosed amount of time" due to upper body injuries.

The Future of Flight is no longer a member of WWE's RAW roster. As of today, Ricochet has been moved to the alumni roster, right between Rick Steiner and Riddick Moss.

Ricochet is now free to sign with any wrestling company. He is not restricted by a 90-day non-compete clause because his contract simply expired.

The One and Only just shared a training clip ahead of tonight's AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view, fueling the rumor mill. It remains to be seen if the 35-year-old is planning to debut for Tony Khan's promotion.

Ricochet's final WWE match aired after exit angle

Ricochet signed with World Wrestling Entertainment on January 16, 2018. The 21-year veteran worked well over 500 matches for the company across all brands.

The Highlight of the Night became the inaugural Speed Champion on May 3. He defeated Johnny Gargano in the tournament finals, which were taped in late April. Ricochet retained the Speed Championship just once, over Tyler Bate.

Ricochet finished up with the company at RAW on June 10, but his last match did not air until June 14. The Speed episode that aired on X that day saw Andrade defeat Ricochet to become the second Speed Champion. The match was taped on June 7 at SmackDown, not long after word got out about the pending departure.

This was the fifth singles bout between El Idolo and the former Prince Puma. Ricochet won on RAW and at Starrcade in 2019, while Andrade picked up a win on the final RAW of that same year. Andrade won a match on Main Event in June 2020, then the title change on Speed.
