40-year-old star announces departure from WWE ahead of Crown Jewel

While a lot of WWE Superstars are currently preparing for Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia, a major name has left the company ahead of the premium live event. The star in question is Baron Corbin, who revealed his departure through a post on social media.

The 40-year-old joined the company in 2012 with no prior wrestling experience under his belt. However, Corbin went on to become a major name in NXT despite no title reigns during his first stint on the brand. He was promoted to the main roster in 2016 but did not enjoy much success there after an initial good run.

Baron Corbin returned to NXT last year after a lackluster run on the main roster. Despite being drafted to SmackDown during the 2024 Draft, The Lone Wolf did not get much TV time on the blue brand. His last televised match came in August when he teamed up with Apollo Crews in a losing affair against Los Garza.

After being off of TV programming for months, Corbin hinted at his departure from WWE in a recent post on X (fka Twitter). Sean Rass Sapp then confirmed that the star was indeed on his way out of the company as his contract had not been renewed.

Baron Corbin was a part of WWE for nearly 12 years, during which he won the United States Championship and NXT Tag Team Championship on one occasion each. He also won the King of the Ring in 2019.
