41-year-old ex-WWE star returning after 8 years to align with Cody Rhodes is possible, says ex-host
While Cody Rhodes is currently WWE's top babyface, many have recently discussed the possibility of him turning heel one day. A former WWE host suggested an ex-superstar return after eight years to align with The American Nightmare if he undergoes that character change.
The superstar in question is Brandi Rhodes. The 41-year-old had two runs in the Stamford-based company, where she mainly worked as a ring announcer and a backstage interviewer. In 2016, she left the promotion alongside her husband, The American Nightmare.
Although Cody returned in 2022, she did not. Nevertheless, she made a one-off appearance during the 39-year-old's entrance on Night Two of WrestleMania XL.
On his The Wrestling Matt podcast, former RAW Talk host Matt Camp suggested that Brandi return to manage her husband in a full-time role if the latter eventually turned heel.
"Cody ticks where he's at a few notches the other way into the heel side, it wouldn't be that hard. You ride the hell out of this current Cody babyface run. You get absolutely everything out of it you can. You don't make that turn anytime too soon. But when you do, you got one hell of a heel on your hands. And I'd put Brandi right by his side. They are wrestling's royal family and he can play that up in a very big way," he said. [41:31 - 42:08]
Heel Cody Rhodes versus babyface Roman Reigns will headline WWE WrestleMania, predicts Matt Camp
Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns headlined WrestleMania for two consecutive years in 2023 and 2024. While The Tribal Chief won their first fight, The American Nightmare defeated the 39-year-old in April.
While in both matches Reigns was the heel and Cody was the babyface, Matt Camp believes the two top WWE Superstars will headline another WrestleMania when they reverse roles.
"I think there's a heel Cody/babyface Roman match that's gonna headline WrestleMania some day because it should," he said.
Reigns has been absent from WWE since his loss to Cody at WrestleMania XL. While he is expected to return as a babyface to confront Solo Sikoa and the new version of The Bloodline, wrestling veteran Tommy Dreamer speculated that he could receive unexpected help from his former rival, The American Nightmare. It would be interesting to see whether that would happen.
