41-year-old ex-WWE star returning after 8 years to align with Cody Rhodes is possible, says ex-host
A former WWE host believes Cody Rhodes could eventually turn heel. He claimed a 41-year-old former star could return to manage a villain American Nightmare.
The former star in question is none other than Brandi Rhodes. Cody's wife left the Stamford-based company alongside him in 2016. The couple worked together in several promotions, including AEW, over the next few years. Although The American Nightmare returned to WWE in 2022, his wife did not.
Speaking on the Busted Open podcast, former RAW Talk host Matt Camp claimed Brandi could make her comeback to the Stamford-based company to manage her husband after the latter potentially turns heel:
"If Cody in his current iteration turns the dial a little bit more the other way, he could be a power-hungry, egomaniac, I would bring Brandi back with him, and they'd be this power couple that has taken over all of pro wrestling as the world champion with his beautiful wife by his side and nobody can touch us and I used all you people to get to this, blah, blah, blah. You made me rich. You put money in my pocket. All these sellouts because of me. Cody's gonna be great in that role. We're not even close to that yet though," he said. [10:57 - 11:31]
Is Cody Rhodes "laying the groundwork" for Brandi Rhodes' return to WWE?
Brandi Rhodes made a one-off appearance alongside her husband during Cody Rhodes' entrance on night two of WrestleMania 40. Later that night, she celebrated his Undisputed WWE Championship win with him in the ring.
In a recent interview with Busted Open Radio, The American Nightmare stated he could be looking for a "classic wrestling manager" to join him on this title reign. Veteran journalist Bill Apter addressed Rhodes' comments on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine, pointing out that the 39-year-old could be laying the groundwork for his wife's return:
"What Cody may be laying the groundwork for is Brandi Rhodes to come back in, and be in his corner. (...) It did (work) when he made his comeback recently, when he had her come out. I forgot, was it WrestleMania or somewhere that she came out and the fans went crazy? Maybe this is to set the bar for her to come back." [2:44 onwards]
Brandi has stepped away from the wrestling business since leaving AEW two years ago. It would be interesting to see if she would return to WWE to manage her husband.
