42-year-old ex-champion ending Gunther's World Heavyweight Title reign should happen, says WWE analyst

Gunther has held the World Heavyweight Championship since SummerSlam. WWE personality Peter Rosenberg recently expressed his desire to see The Ring General drop the title to a 42-year-old RAW star.

Damian Priest captured the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40 after cashing in his Money in the Bank contract on Drew McIntyre. However, he lost the title to Gunther at SummerSlam after getting betrayed by his former Judgment Day teammate Finn Balor. The Archer of Infamy will now square off against The Ring General and The Prince in a Triple Threat World Heavyweight Championship Match tonight at Saturday Night's Main Event.

Speaking on his Cheap Heat podcast, Rosenberg disclosed that he would like Priest to regain the title in his home state of New York. The WWE analyst claimed Gunther's title run has become stale.

"Here's something. I would love Priest to win this. I think Priest is awesome right now. And how about this? I think Gunther is getting a little stale. I'd love Priest in New York to beat him," he said. [From 18:23 - 18:34]

Finn Balor won't dethrone Gunther at Saturday Night's Main Event, believes ex-WWE writer

Former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. recently discussed the potential outcome of the upcoming Triple Threat World Heavyweight Championship Match between Gunther, Damian Priest, and Finn Balor at Saturday Night's Main Event.

The Hollywood star disclosed that he did not believe The Prince would be the one leaving the show with the title.

"The crowd, I think, even though he [Finn Balor] is a bad guy, secretly wants him to have it as well. I don't think there's any chance he wins the match against Gunther, but I guess there's a chance. I don't see why you build up Gunther unless he's going to have a long title run. So, I don't think it's Finn's time yet, but it has to be Finn's time again soon one day, maybe when he's out of The Judgment Day," Prinze Jr. said.

Gunther has recently surpassed 128 days as World Heavyweight Champion. It would really be enthralling to see if he would leave Saturday Night's Main Event 2024 with the title tonight.
