43-year-old WWE star comments on a potential match against Cody Rhodes for the first time in over four years

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has had an abundance of challengers since he secured the gold. Recently, Shawn Spears commented on a potential match with The American Nightmare for the first time in over four years.

Cody Rhodes was an integral part of All Elite Wrestling, where he spent nearly three years and feuded with several notable names. In 2022, The American Nightmare returned to WWE and a few AEW names followed suit, including Shawn Spears.

In an interview on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, Shawn Spears was asked about a potential match against Cody Rhodes in WWE. The 43-year-old acknowledged Rhodes' current status in the promotion and said the roster was currently looking forward to NXT's debut on The CW. Spears added that he was open to a match against the SmackDown Superstar down the line.

"He hit a different level. Right now, we're kind of geared and focused on the CW launch and the CW debut in Chicago, but let me know, you'll probably see him again before I do. That's how busy we both kind of are. And if you do, float it in his ear a little bit, he knows where to find me. I'm not hard to find. I'm not hard to find at all. No chairs, I promise," Spears said. When did Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes feud with Shawn Spears?

In 2019, Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega, and The Young Bucks laid the foundation for All Elite Wrestling alongside Tony Khan. The company's first official pay-per-view took place in May, kicking off a series of events.

A month later, the company hosted Fyter Fest, where Cody Rhodes took a brutal chair shot to the head from Shawn Spears. This became the starting point of Spears' Chairman moniker.

In September, AEW hosted its first-ever All Out, and Rhodes went one-on-one with Spears, with MJF and Tully Blanchard in their respective corners. The American Nightmare prevailed over The Chairman, and they went their separate ways.

A few months later, Rhodes faced Shawn Spears in another one-on-one match to earn a TNT Championship shot. The second-generation star won, and the two haven't locked horns in singles competition since then.
