44-year-old legend returns to RAW; confirmed as Gunther's challenger at Bash in Berlin 2024
It didn't take very long for Gunther to get his first World Heavyweight Championship challenger, and we're looking at the possible main event of Bash in Berlin between The Ring General and Randy Orton.
This week, RAW opened with the returning Ludwig Kaiser, who introduced Gunther as the World Heavyweight Champion. After a promo bragging about himself and the new era that's to come, he was interrupted by none other than 14-time World Champion Randy Orton.
If you recall, the two faced off in the King of the Ring final in what was a controversial win for Gunther. Even Triple H later acknowledged the controversy and the need to rectify it.
It seems like the time to rectify it will come in Berlin, Germany, at the end of this month. Addressing the finish to King of the Ring, Orton made his claim for a World Championship shot. The champion, to his credit, called his King of the Ring victory a stain on his career and accepted the challenge.
This looks like it could be a possible main event for Bash in Berlin. Gunther isn't a German but belongs to the neighboring nation of Austria. While this itself may not be a claim for a main event, the match seems big enough to headline a Premium Live Event.
After the two shook hands, the champion told Orton off the mic that he couldn't simply catch him out of nowhere. Orton responded by saying that he wanted The Ring General to see it coming.
It's going to be a big World Championship match in Berlin. Orton could be putting his feud with The Bloodline on pause for the time being.
