49-year-old WWE veteran cites match vs. Chris Benoit as career highlight

WWE Universe may find it uncomfortable to look back at the phenomenal career of the late Chris Benoit. Still, there are plenty of wrestlers whose careers are intertwined with The Rabid Wolverine's.

During his run as the United States Champion, he defended the title against MVP at WrestleMania 23, which also fatefully became Benoit's final match on The Grandest Stage Of Them All.

When asked about which match was a career highlight to him by WrestleZone, MVP revealed that it was this bout that holds a special place in his heart:

"A match that would define who I was as an in-ring competitor would be my very first time challenging for the United States championship at my first WrestleMania. I think that match [challenging Chris Benoit at WrestleMania 23] actively illustrates peak MVP." [H/T: WrestleZone]

This was also, incidentally, the veteran's first WrestleMania match. Despite losing to Chris Benoit at The Show of Shows, then again at Backlash the following month, MVP ultimately defeated the late superstar at Judgment Day event in a Two-out-of-Three Falls bout, ending their pay-per-view trilogy.

This also marked his first title win in WWE, which began a reign that lasted for 343 days. Between 2007 and early 2008, MVP stole the show consistently, especially with Matt Hardy, who ultimately ended the veteran's title run.

MVP cites WWE faction as one of his greatest achievements

The Hurt Business immediately rose up the ranks since its inception during the pandemic. During their one-year stint on RAW, all members became champions. During the same interview, MVP recalled his time working with Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, and Cedric Alexander:

"The organic nature of The Hurt Business, the real friendship and all of us being able to come together and achieve championships. Bobby being the WWE champion, Shelton and Cedric being the tag champions and me kind of being the coach, bringing that all together. It’s one of the highlights of my career for certain," MVP said.
