5-time WWE World Champion shares crowd's honest reaction to Jey Uso's historic first singles title win
Jey Uso etched his name in the WWE history books by capturing the Intercontinental Championship, his first singles title in a remarkable 14-year career. Meanwhile, CM Punk opened up about the electric atmosphere on Monday Night RAW, where The YEET Master won the title.
Bron Breakker won the IC Title at SummerSlam 2024 in Cleveland after defeating Sami Zayn. However, The Dog of WWE's reign lasted for 51 days as he lost his championship to Main Event Jey on the September 23, 2024, edition of the red brand.
During an appearance on the Spielgel & Holmes Show, The Straight Edge Superstar compared the experience of watching wrestling or sports on TV to being physically present at an event, highlighting the unique atmosphere and energy that can only be felt in person.
"Super awesome. I was excited about it. I don't like to know what's going to go down on the show. I like to watch it and be surprised. It was a huge moment in Jey's career, and I was happy that I was able to be there and watch it live. There is a huge difference to me watching wrestling, or sports in general, on TV or actually being at an event," Punk said. [H/T: Fightful]
The former two-time WWE Champion and three-time World Heavyweight Champion recalled the overwhelming support for Jey Uso from the sold-out crowd in Ontario, California, calling it a special and unforgettable moment.
The five-time WWE World Champion added:
"The atmosphere, the sights, the sounds, the smells. It's the same thing for wrestling. That crowd in Ontario, California, sold out, hanging from the rafters. Great energy. Universally, I don't think I've ever seen so unified in wanting one person [Jey Uso] to win a championship like that. It was a special moment." [H/T: Fightful]
