6 ft 5 in WWE star claims Gunther can't beat him in one-on-one match; puts top heel faction on notice
Gunther was set to defend his WWE World Heavyweight Title against Finn Balor at Saturday Night's Main Event. However, following this week's Monday Night RAW, it was announced that the 6 ft 5 in Damian Priest would be added to the match, making it a Triple Threat contest for the world championship at the NBC special show.
On the December 9, 2024, installment of the red brand, Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, Carlito, and Dominik Mysterio confronted The Ring General. The World Heavyweight Champion and The Prince exchanged verbal shots before The Judgment Day faction surrounded the Imperium leader.
However, The Archer of Infamy came into the fold and neutralized his former group members. However, Gunther immediately incapacitated Damian Priest. This allowed Balor and his associates to capitalize on the situation, unleashing a brutal assault on both superstars.
After the flagship show went off the air, in an interview on RAW Talk, Cathy Kelley asked Damian Priest about The Judgment Day's attack heading into this weekend's Saturday Night's Main Event. The 6 ft 5 in WWE star said:
"The Judgment Day could try to take me out again and again, and again. But clearly, they're stupid to realize that by now they can't get the job done. So how am I feeling? I'm feeling pi**ed off and that s**ks for everybody that's in the Judgment Day and that sucks if your name is Gunther."
Damian Priest also claimed that The Ring General cannot defeat him in a one-on-one match and requires outside assistance.
"Gunther knows, one-on-one, he can't beat me, he needs help. And Finn Balor, well, he just likes getting beat up by me, so I'll continue to do that. At Saturday Night's Main Event, The Street King will rise. El Campeon is back," he added.
WWE Hall of Famer says Finn Balor has what it takes to beat Gunther
Wrestling veteran Teddy Long recently shared his thoughts on the upcoming Finn Balor vs. Gunther vs. Damian Priest Triple Threat Match at SNME. He discussed this prediction on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine podcast.
Teddy Long expressed hope that The Demon's recent involvement in significant storylines would lead to a higher position on the WWE roster.
"Well we never know. Finn [Balor] does a great job and he has been involved in a lot of good stuff so we just never know. I hope so, I hope they are not just wasting him, you know what I mean. I hope this kind of moves him up in the ranks."
