6-time world champion, not Kevin Owens, deserves a shot at Cody Rhodes' title, says ex-WWE host, for major reason
Cody Rhodes is set to defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Kevin Owens at Bash in Berlin. Meanwhile, a former WWE host thinks another top superstar deserves a title shot.
The superstar in question is none other than Roman Reigns. The Original Tribal Chief was the champion for nearly four years before losing the title to The American Nightmare at WrestleMania XL. While discussing potential challengers for Rhodes with the latter and Owens last week on SmackDown, General Manager Nick Aldis disclosed that he was considering Reigns. While The Prizefighter protested, former The Bump host Matt Camp believes Aldis had the right to offer the Head of the Table a title shot.
Speaking on his The Wrestling Matt podcast, Camp claimed the six-time world champion deserves a title rematch against The American Nightmare after his historic reign:
"Well, Roman should [get a title shot] certainly. A four-year championship reign, I don't think you have to make any other arguments for why a rematch or another chance at the title is warranted. It obviously is warranted," he said. [ From 13:51 - 14:09]
The Bloodline destroyed Roman Reigns on WWE SmackDown
Last night on WWE SmackDown, Roman Reigns battled with Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga for the Ula Fala. Earlier that night, the self-proclaimed Tribal Chief told his Right Hand Man that they would have to acknowledge Reigns as The Tribal Chief if the latter succeeded in regaining the Ula Fala from him.
After spearing Sikoa and taking out Tonga, The Original Tribal Chief picked up the Ula Fala and put it around his neck, seemingly regaining his position at the top of The Bloodline. However, he was surprisingly attacked by Jacob Fatu. The Samoan Werewolf destroyed Reigns inside the ring before he, Sikoa, and Tonga put the former champion through the announcement table. The Bloodline then dragged Reigns to the ring and did the faction's iconic finger pose.
Many expect The Original Tribal Chief to reunite with The Usos and Sami Zayn to fight Sikoa's Bloodline. It would be interesting to see if that would happen after he got destroyed on the blue brand.
