6-time WWE Champion confirms he would never wrestle again; open to returning as a manager

A multi-time champion made it clear that he wasn't interested in wrestling again but was open to returning to WWE in a managerial role. The name in question is Kurt Angle, who revealed he was open to returning under the right conditions.

Though the Olympic gold medalist is arguably one of the greatest to ever lace up a pair of wrestling boots, his time in WWE and then in TNA took a toll on his body. While Kurt Angle continued to wrestle sporadically until 2019, he stepped aside from the ring for good after WrestleMania 35, where he lost to Baron Corbin.

Since then, he has reiterated on several occasions that he wasn't keen on stepping inside the ring again due to his health. In a recent virtual signing with K&S WrestleFest, Angle again made his stance clear about an in-ring return.

The wrestling legend explained that he was open to returning to WWE as a manager, even mentioning he would like to manage Chad Gable's American Made faction. However, when it comes to making a return to the ring, Kurt Angle turned down the idea, saying he wouldn't like to do anything more than take a bump here and there.

“If the money was right (I would come back to manage a faction)… The spot (matters too), yeah, definitely. I think Chad (Gable) and his gang that he has right now, that would be a great idea. I wouldn’t mind doing a spot here and there. But, if you’re gonna ask me to do a wrestling match, it’s just not gonna happen. Yeah, I could take some bumps.” (H/T - Ringside News)

Kurt Angle declined to manage Matt Riddle in WWE

A couple of months back, Angle disclosed that WWE had approached him a few years back about potentially becoming Matt Riddle's on-screen manager.

Kurt Angle added that while he was excited about the potential pairing, he ultimately chose to decline as he wasn't pleased with the money being offered.

"I will tell you this: I feel a little badly about doing this. But a few years ago, WWE wanted me to manage Matt Riddle. I was into it. I was like, 'Okay, we could have some great vignettes. I think we would have had great chemistry, but it didn’t happen unfortunately because they didn’t offer me the right amount of money. The money they offered me was really not good. Not to say anything bad about the company, but it was like okay. That was kind of a kick to the nuts kind of an offer," he said.

It remains to be seen if WWE and Kurt Angle can reach an agreement, as a pairing with Chad Gable is sure to work wonders for the latter.
