6ft 5 WWE star will 100% challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed Title at SummerSlam, says veteran

After a brutal I Quit Match at Clash at the Castle, Cody Rhodes successfully retained his Undisputed WWE Championship against AJ Styles. Wrestling veteran Matthew Rehwoldt (fka Aiden English) now thinks a top SmackDown star could be Rhodes' challenger at SummerSlam.

The superstar in question is none other than Randy Orton. The 6ft 5 legend, alongside Kevin Owens, came to The American Nightmare's aid when The Bloodline attacked him following his match against Styles at Clash at the Castle. Meanwhile, Orton was spotted staring at Rhodes' Undisputed WWE Championship.

Rehwoldt now thinks that the champion will cross paths with his former Legacy leader in a few weeks. On the Rebooked podcast, the current TNA color commentator claimed that The Viper will "100 %" go head-to-head against The American Nightmare at SummerSlam:

"We saw some new stories come right out of that [Rhodes vs Styles] with The Bloodline attacking Cody. We had Randy come to the rescue. So, we know we're gonna see some Cody-Bloodline stuff maybe leading towards and or through Money in the Bank. But we also got the really nice guy looking down at the girl's chest look from Randy to Cody."

He added:

"[I think we're definitely gonna do that match?] SummerSlam. SummerSlam a 100%. That's what's happening. The old Legacy match, let's run it, you know what I mean?" [From 32:09 to 32:50]

Will Cody Rhodes drop the Undisputed WWE Championship to Randy Orton at SummerSlam?

On an episode of The Wrestling Matt podcast, former WWE host Matt Camp also discussed the future of Cody Rhodes' championship. Like Matthew Rehwoldt, he suggested The American Nightmare could square off against Randy Orton at SummerSlam.

However, the former RAW Talk host pointed out that he believes Orton would be the first legitimate threat to Rhodes' title reign. Camp suggested an angle that could see The American Nightmare dropping the title to The Viper at SummerSlam before regaining it at Survivor Series:

"To me, Randy would be his first legitimate challenge to that championship. Didn't think AJ was winning either match. Didn't think Logan Paul was winning either match. Nobody else did either. But Randy Orton, super heel Randy Orton, at SummerSlam against Cody Rhodes, very believable to see Randy walk out with the WWE Championship on that night, not to say he would keep it forever, not to say he would even keep it for a long time. Cody would get that title back maybe by Survivor Series. That's okay to have him chase a little bit," he said.

Matt Camp also predicted that Rhodes would team up with Orton and Kevin Owens in a six-man tag team match against The Bloodline at Money in the Bank, claiming The Viper could turn on his former Legacy associate after the fight to start their anticipated feud. It would be interesting to see if his predictions will come true.
