7-time champion mocks Motor City Machine Guns following shocking turn on WWE SmackDown
Motor City Machine Guns were the WWE Tag Team Champions until last night when they shockingly lost the titles on the blue brand. Today, Johnny Gargano sent a message to Alex Shelly and Chris Sabin and mocked the two after winning the titles.
A few months ago, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, aka Motor City Machine Guns, made their WWE debut on Friday Night SmackDown and won the WWE Tag Team Championships less than four matches after their first appearance. However, it started a storyline between them and #DIY in the following weeks.
On the recent edition of Friday Night SmackDown, #DIY captured their second Tag Team Championship on the brand as Gargano turned on the champions and hit a low blow. Today, the multi-time North American, former NXT, NXT Tag Team, and current Tag Team Champion mocked the former titleholders.
"You can say a lot of things about me but a liar I am not.. I kept my promise.. you didn't have to worry about Tommaso. PS: Thank you for the title match, Alex. 🥰," Gargano wrote.
What happened between #DIY and Motor City Machine Guns on WWE SmackDown?
After the Motor City Machine Guns made their debut in the Stamford-based promotion, they were welcomed by many familiar faces, including Johnny Gargano. The 37-year-old star has a brief history with the duo, and this didn't sit well with Tommaso Ciampa.
In the past few weeks, Ciampa was getting frustrated with Gargano's light-hearted attitude and wanted him to step up. On the recent edition of Friday Night SmackDown, the Street Profits were mysteriously attacked ahead of their scheduled title match against the Motor City Machine Guns.
Instead, Shelley agreed to give a title match to #DIY. However, it didn't go the champ's way as Johnny Gargano turned heel and hit Sabin with a low blow. This allowed the challengers to capitalize and win the titles from the Motor City Machine Guns.
