7-time WWE champion would love to wrestle John Cena in 2025; comments on potential 17th world title win
After giving over two decades to WWE, John Cena recently announced his upcoming retirement tour in 2025. Meanwhile, current Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn expressed his interest in facing his former opponent and commented on a possible 17th World Championship win.
Earlier this year, John Cena returned to WWE under Triple H's regime and announced his upcoming retirement tour, which will last till the end of 2025. Several challengers and newcomers have already lined up to face The Cenation Leader before he walks away as a wrestler.
In an interview on the Cheap Heat podcast with Peter Rosenberg, the former NXT, Undisputed Tag Team, and multi-time Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn addressed John Cena's upcoming retirement. He also believes the Hollywood star should win his 17th World Championship.
"If I get that opportunity, I would love to wrestle him [John Cena] in 2025. I would love it. And, if it is for the Intercontinental Championship if I'm still holding it, or even if I lose it and win it back by then, I would love to be a part of that story," Zayn said. (From 11:00 to 11:15)

Major WWE star wants to team up with John Cena in 2025
John Cena and CM Punk have been rivals and friends on screen as The Cenation Leader played a vital role in The Straight Edge Superstar's meteoric rise to the top of professional wrestling. There were times when the two didn't see eye-to-eye and those days are far gone for the two stars in WWE.
During San Deigo Comic-Con 2024, The Second City Saint commented on John Cena's upcoming retirement tour. The former WWE Champion said he would like to team up with The Cenation Leader rather than fight against him on his retirement tour.
"Everybody’s asking me, because [John] Cena has announced his retirement, that, obviously, they want to see us fight each other. I think there’s something to me and him tagging. I think that can be pretty interesting," he said. [50:09-50:20]
