70-year-old WWE veteran describes how his faction is different from legendary tag team Legion of Doom (Exclusive)
A WWE veteran has compared his faction to the legendary tag team Legion of Doom. He identified a key difference between the two teams.
Paul Ellering is known to modern fans as the manager of the Authors of Pain. With Ellering in their corner, Akam and Rezar wreaked havoc over the tag team division from the start of their WWE careers in NXT.
Despite their destructive nature, they were released from the company a couple of years ago, only to return recently as part of Karrion Kross' new faction, The Final Testament. They have picked up right where they left off by destroying the Street Profits on numerous occasions.
During an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda's Senior Editor, Bill Apter, Paul Ellering mentioned that AOP's amateur background is what differentiates them from the Legion of Doom.
"I would say they [AOP] have a more of an amateur background which helps a lot. They were both tremendous athletes. Akam was National Champion multiple times and was right on the Olympic process. Just a matter of going, and Rezar fought over 100 sports combat fights." [1:38 - 2:15]
WWE veteran Paul Ellering on why he picked the Authors of Pain
Paul Ellering has been managing the Authors of Pain since their early days in NXT. He has been helpful in their growth as a tag team over the years. Hence, when AOP returned to WWE, Ellering was again their manager.
During the same interview with Sportskeeda's Senior Editor, Bill Apter, Ellering mentioned why he chose the Authors of Pain.
"The Authors of Pain – to me they were like clones of the LOD....very intense, strong, great character, good people." [0:58 - 1:13]
It remains to be seen if the Authors of Pain will be able to enjoy a successful run as members of The Final Testament this time around.
