8-time WWE Champion will face Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania after winning Royal Rumble, says veteran
Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has won the last two Men's Royal Rumble matches. A wrestling veteran recently predicted a massive superstar would win the upcoming Royal Rumble to challenge The American Nightmare at WrestleMania 41.
Ahead of this year's Show of Shows, Rhodes had a heated feud with The Rock. The Final Boss pinned The American Nightmare in a tag team match on Night One of WrestleMania 40. On the RAW After WrestleMania, the 8-time WWE Champion confronted the 39-year-old and promised to go after him upon his return from hiatus. Last month, The Rock returned at Bad Blood to seemingly threaten Rhodes, Roman Reigns, and Jimmy Uso with a cryptic gesture.
On his The Brand podcast, former head writer Vince Russo predicted that The Rock would win the upcoming Men's Royal Rumble to challenge Rhodes at WrestleMania 41. The Final Boss won the prestigious match once in his career 24 years ago:
"Mark this date down on your calendar please, November 7th, Vince Russo said The Rock was gonna win the Royal Rumble and he was going to face Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania. Write that down," he said. [11:55 - 12:11]
Will The Rock end Cody Rhodes' Undisputed WWE Championship reign?
Cody Rhodes has held the Undisputed WWE Championship ever since defeating Roman Reigns on Night Two of WrestleMania 40. He has since defended it against multiple superstars, including Kevin Owens, AJ Styles, and Solo Sikoa.
Speaking on the Busted Open podcast, Hall of Famer Mark Henry predicted that The Rock would be the one to end The American Nightmare's championship reign. He pointed out that current World Heavyweight Champion Gunther would be his second choice:
"[Who do you think is going to end Cody Rhodes' reign as Undisputed WWE Champion?] I would've liked to think that it would be The Rock but Gunther would be my next choice. And Imma tell you why I say The Rock. Because The Bloodline is in turmoil and leadership and ownership of who's gonna be the leader of The Bloodline is the most imminent thing in The Bloodline future," he said.
While Rhodes was pinned by The Rock earlier this year, he recently defeated Gunther to win the Crown Jewel Championship in Saudi Arabia. It would be interesting to see if either of these two superstars can dethrone The American Nightmare.
